Description:
The act of "genocide of the Armenian people" by the Turkish government between 1915 and 1922 is still an event that has not healed wounds for the Armenian people today. In 2015, 100 years after the event, American composer Ian Crews wrote a requiem for remembrance. Since Armenian churches did not perform a requiem when commemorating the dead, and only a few parishes typically offered a short prayer for the dead at the end of the ceremony, Crews wrote the work primarily from liturgical chant texts, but also included a variety of poems, including "The Blessed Sacrament," "The Blessed Sacrament," and "The Blessed Sacrament of the Armenian People. The world of anguish in the first half of the work is purified at the end, lighting a warm fire in the hearts of the Armenian people and the many listeners. Naxos Japan
