Broadside circular, 11 x 8.25 inches, illustrated with a halftone photograph of Frederick James Blair, alias Charles Gordon Murray, "Wanted in Detroit on charges of abandonment, embezzlement and bigamy." Tattering to upper edge where it was formerly pasted-up. Faint creases from being folded for post and gentle age toning, Very Good. With a copy of two newspaper articles illustrating Blair's dodgy activity and verifying him as a "Gibson type"—the lesser-memorialized male counterpart to the "Gibson girl."
A grifter from a wealthy family, Blair had a penchant for fleecing women involved in temperance campaigns. The reward was offered by the latest "Mrs. Blair," who printed the circulars in hope of tracking him down, seemingly still enamored. Her voice comes through in the mix of typical police description ("Age 41. Height 5 ft. 7 in. Weight about 150 lbs.," etc), with more intimate or nuanced observations, "Nervous temperament. Has habit of biting his finger nails. Cigarette fiend. Hangs around sporting houses. Usual occupations, commercial traveler, detective and 'philanthropic worker'" (emphasis theirs).
