The series is the result of the deep relationship of trust between Seiji Ozawa and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Before assuming the position of Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Seiji Ozawa directed the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's summer music festival, the Ravinia Festival, from 1964 to 1968. During that time, this young Japanese conductor established a deep rapport with the prestigious Chicago Symphony Orchestra through his flawless musical understanding and precise conducting technique, the results of which were recorded. Tchaikovsky is Ozawa's specialty and has been re-recorded in later years, but this is the only recording of "A Night on the Bald Mountain". In that sense, this is a valuable copy.
