Great to see you here! I'm Val from Kumiko Matcha, and I welcome you to the world of organic premium matcha tea from Japan 🇯🇵 I created Kumiko Matcha in 2013 to help people (re)discover authentic and delicious organic matcha.

What is matcha?

Drinking a good organic matcha tea is above all a moment of pleasure, with simple preparation. A soothing and luxurious ritual with beautiful colours and beautiful objects. It is both new and the result of more than 800 years of expertise passed down from generation to generation in Japan. A convivial and pleasant moment that can also be shared.

Matcha tea is a green tea grown and produced in a unique way by artisan farmers in Japan. The leaves are not infused but rather finely ground into a very delicate powder. The entire tea leaf is consumed, which provides a phenomenal quantity of antioxidants: 137 times more than in infused tea!

There are many health benefits. 

Starting with one cup per day (1g of tea), matcha tea:

Organic premium matcha is Kumiko Matcha's flagship product, the finest premium grade organic matcha tea, hand-picked on the island of Kyushu and blended by the tea master.

The bamboo matcha whisk (called chasen in Japanese) is handmade by skilled artisans from a single piece of bamboo that is meticulously cut into 100 strands.

These bamboo whisks cannot be produced by machine, which is why they are all unique. Our bamboo matcha whisks are designed to create a perfectly frothy and creamy matcha.

The bamboo scoop (called chashaku in Japanese) is traditionally used to scoop a small quantity of matcha to make matcha tea.

This spoon is carved from a piece of bamboo and steamed to be bent by hand. It is a process that requires a lot of patience and dexterity so as not to break the bamboo.

With a bamboo scoop and a 100-strand bamboo matcha whisk, you have the perfect accessories to prepare matcha tea with a smooth and creamy froth.

This Japanese matcha tea set contains:

A delicate matcha powder with an intense jade colour. A rich and mellow taste with a delicious flavour. Initially vegetal and herbal, slightly astringent with a tannin sensation next to a smooth finish. Full of umami. It is not bitter like poor quality matcha.

When whisked, this matcha produces a smooth froth. Ideal for daily consumption and smoothies.

Matcha tea is prepared in a bowl using bamboo utensils.

Use the spoon to put the matcha in the bowl (1 to 2 bamboo spoons), then add a little cold water and whisk the mixture with the bamboo whisk until you obtain a fine, smooth froth. Then add hot water (caution: not boiling water).

Breathe, and it's ready. Enjoy the tasting.
